Teen snowboarding sensation Rebecca Flynn already seems perfectly at home on the sport’s biggest stages. At just 17, the Minnesota native made headlines last year when she became the youngest member of Team USA’s. Five-strong slopestyle team a milestone that marked the start of her meteoric rise.
The athletes Rebecca Flynn once idolized had become her teammates and friends, a reality that still feels surreal to her. Showing up to my first team camp and seeing all the pros was unbelievable. I couldn’t believe I was part of it, she said. It was such an amazing experience to train alongside the people I’ve looked up to for so long. And it made me love the sport even more.
Everyone was so welcoming, Rebecca Flynn shared. This season, I headed to Chur in Switzerland a little early for a girl’s trip with Julia Marino. Hailey Langland, and Hahna Norman. It’s just so much fun, and I still can’t believe I get to ride casually with snowboarders I grew up admiring. She added that these moments have been some of the most rewarding parts of her journey so far.
Winter Olympic: Snowboarding Breakthroughs
Watching how they ride and adapt to different conditions has been incredibly inspiring. They’re so skilled and hardworking, and it motivates me to strive for that level of dedication, she shared. The impact of those experiences was clear in her impressive 2024 season. Which kicked off with a Big Air silver medal at the Gangwon 2024 Youth Olympic Games.
Next came an impressive performance at the challenging slopestyle World Cup opener in Cardrona, New Zealand. Strong winds created tough conditions, limiting practice runs and causing multiple delays during the competition. Despite the obstacles, Flynn’s determination shone through as she competed fiercely. Keeping her goal of the Winter Olympic games in Milano Cortina 2026 firmly in mind.
Despite the tough conditions, Flynn displayed remarkable maturity and composure, earning a bronze medal and securing her first World Cup podium. I wasn’t expecting that at all, she admitted. I was honestly just hoping to land a run that might barely get me into the finals. Her unexpected success marked a turning point in her young career, proving she could hold her own against the world’s best.
When I saw I was placed third, I literally couldn’t believe it, Flynn said. I was even more surprised when I held onto that spot mainly in the first race of the year. Sparkly on the flash, she admits the result may have given her a bit too much confidence. Unfortunately, during her final training session before the Big Air event in Chur, Switzerland, in October, she took a fall off a rail and ended up breaking her wrist.

After getting her wrist put in a cast, Flynn went straight back to the hill to keep working and even vied in Chur. What could have been a shocking blow for an athlete at the top of her game didn’t faze the mentally tough shredder. Instead, her biggest worry was how her recital might reflect on her back home. I didn’t want anyone to think I wasn’t giving it my all, she admitted, stress her firm determination.
I hate to admit I broke it on a rail and not a jump, especially since I’m from Minnesota, where we mostly focus on rails! she said with a grin. The injury didn’t create any mental barriers for me, and it hasn’t affected me physically either. I can still grab with that hand, which is a relief. Flynn’s ability to perform under pressure, despite her young age, is a testament to her ultra-competitive mindset.
Rather than being afraid by rival against Olympic and world champions, Flynn is driven to rise to their level. I’m okay with not always being first right now because the other girls are totally grave it and have so much more skill, she said. But I’m gritty to close that gap. With her eyes set on earning her Olympic Snowboarding Tickets for Milano Cortina 2026, Flynn is fully stanch to pushing herself to reach the top.
I tend to perform my best when I’m under pressure, or when I put pressure on myself, Flynn explained. I actually welcome the nerves and the big moments, which is why I love Big Air comps. The finals usually have bigger crowds than slopestyle, and it can get a little chaotic, which makes it more anxious. But I really enjoy when folks are watching. I certainly feed off the energy of the crowd and the atmosphere.
